Bonus material
Daniel Hellbach's Pop Concerto was conceived for a youth orchestra and a young pianist. The piece is in three parts (fast - slow - fast) and lasts about 7 minutes. In this work the composer combines stylistic elements from pop, jazz and classical music, and once again he meets the musical taste of young people.
Solo part
Technically, the piano concerto does not demand too much of the soloist, its difficulty being about intermediate level. Musically, the work requires a wide range of expression, as it contains elements of rock, jazz, classical and romantic music.
Orchestra
Besides the strings, the instrumentation of the orchestra requires a flute, a clarinet and an alto saxophone. The arrangement of the drums (not composed) is left to the player or his/her teacher. Here the CD recording can be used as an example.
2-piano version
Besides the orchestra score and the individual parts, the Pop Concerto also exists in a version for 2 pianos, which is meant to enable the soloist to practise. The piece can also be played and performed in this piano-only version.
Play-along
CD The Pop Concerto was recorded on CD by a professional orchestra and a concert pianist. Besides a complete version of the Concerto, the CD also contains three orchestral versions minus the solo part – at three different tempos. The CD is an integral part of the 2-piano edition, but can also be purchased separately.
