Structure: 10 movements
Duration: approx. 25 minutes
The Lenz- und Liebeslieder op. 72 by Hans Huber are an exceptionally complex piece of music. The individual movements vary a lot in instrumentation and character, which makes the composition colourful. If no soloists are available, most of the movements can also be performed with just a choir. As the instrumentation is identical with that of the Liebeslieder Waltzes by Johannes Brahms, the Lenz- und Liebeslieder are an ideal complement to Brahms' composition.
Compact Disc:
The Vocal Quartets op. 52 were recorded together with the Lenz- und Liebeslieder op. 72 and the Vocal Quartets op. 69 by Hans Huber on the CD «Hans Huber, Chorwerke» (Acanthus Music ACM 001).
