10 Ländler For Piano Four Hands
The Composer
Hans Huber was probably the most important Swiss composer in the 19th century. Although his music was firmly rooted in the tradition of German romanticism, his works also already give hint of impressionism.
The Work
The 10 Ländler “Vom Luzernersee” [from Lake Lucerne] is one of Hans Huber’s best compositions. With regard to the level of difficulty of the pieces, they are most comparable with the Waltzes Op. 39 or the Hungarian Dances by Johannes Brahms, who inspired and influenced Hans Huber to a great degree.
The CD-Recording
The CD that is included with each score contains a performance of the work by Dominique Derron and Pius Urech, a piano duo that has carefully studied and frequently performed Hans Huber’s music for many years.
